Waiting, praying, believing versus grabbing

Rob was relating his story about his little 3 year old son who grabbed a little handful of chips when dad wanted to give a big dad's handful for him. God wants to give us more than we are able but we are satisfied with the immediacy of instant gratification.

Lot grabbed sodom and gomorrah, seeing it to be well watered 'like the land of egypt' gimmering with fatness, rich with life, leaving Abraham with not much else. But to Abraham it was said 'lift up your eyes and look - i will give you the land of Canaan.' God has a greater inheritence for those who would seek and wait for Him and walk in His ways.

Real men believe, hold the faith and wait until God accomplishes for them.

Isaiah 62:

6On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen;
All day and all night they will never keep silent.
You who remind the LORD, take no rest for yourselves;
7And give Him no rest until He establishes
And makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

Notice 2 things in the above passage 1) God is the one who works who establishes Jerusalem, builds His church His temple He is the one that saves 2) we work, by prayer, by believing by trusting and by holding fast the Faith.

David was such a man, able to wait on God – Saul could not wait. When both were pressed with invading armies, one man grabbed – reacted could not keep his spirit in check and ruined God’s work in His character and in the nation. The other man waited till the angels were marching in the tops of the trees, fought for God and brought forth His victory.

It takes a man of faith to face impossible circumstances, dead circumstances, with unwavering faith hold on to God's promises and believe in Him so much that they begin to birth in His spirit. Abraham waited and believed 25 years for Isaac.

Romans 4:

19 He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah's womb.

20 No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, 21 fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.

It takes men and women who pray, who believe and who wait to bring forth God's victory with His results. "Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might." - Ephesians 6:10
