Arguably, Jesus standards of perfection in Matthew 5 were the most exacting of any teacher of any day, you will not find a higher standard than God's Holiness and standard as expounded in Matthew 5.
The scriptures also clearly condemns our condition as unsavable, our hearts are evil.
Yet the solution is not to remove holiness, nor to remove the need to be perfected in Christ, nor to remove the standard of the life of Christ, but to add, to add in huge copious amounts the doctrine of the grace of God that makes the burden light, not to remove the burden per say.
